National Adoption Awareness Month
November is National Adoption Awareness Month. During this month, we want to draw a little extra attention to the importance of adoption and how everyone can do something to support adoptive and foster families. We have seen a continual increase in visitors to our FAM closet throughout the year. We are thankful for all the families that have chosen to care for children in their homes and we want to continue to be a blessing to them by providing essential items.
FAM Closet Updates
Closet Drive: We are having our annual FAM closet drive during the month of November. Check out the pallet board in the church lobby to see how you can help by providing items that need to be replenished.
Gift Cards: Gift cards are a huge blessing to families. These cards help parents purchase items that we may not carry or do not have room for in the closet. Some items that gift cards can help provide are new shoes, baby formula, and other baby items that we cannot keep in the closet.
Thank you so much for your continued generous donations to the closet and know that the families who have benefited from your generosity are grateful.
Volunteer Army
We are looking to focus on adding people to the volunteer army, specifically in the area of closet volunteers.
Closet organizers will be willing to come in and sort through clothes and put them in their appropriate spots. Organizers will help keep the closet neat and tidy so families can easily find what they are looking for when they come in to get what they need. Time commitment is a few hours one month at a time.
Closet Hosts/Hostesses will be willing to meet families at the closet to help them get the items that they need. Hosts or hostesses will be on call and respond as they are available. Hosts or hostesses must enjoy meeting new people and be able to engage with families as they help them shop the closet. There is no specific time commitment—just a willingness to come to the church to meet people as the need arises and you have availability.
