Growth groups are our basic units for Christian fellowship, connection, care, and discipleship at Soteria Des Moines.

In keeping with the pattern of the early church, these groups meet in homes and serve as a compliment to our corporate worship on Sundays.

We offer groups on the basis of geography, stage of life, and interest.

Our desire is to see people deepen their love for God as they develop authentic, love-driven relationships with fellow brothers and sisters in Christ.

Our growth groups run in a cycle we like to call “3 tens and a break.”

We offer 10-week long small group sessions in the fall, winter, and spring with breaks between each session. During the summer, the groups do not meet.

In order to participate in a growth group, you must sign up at the beginning of a 10-week session.

If you desire to plug into a group, every several weeks we have a new Starting Point group that begins. Attending the Starting Point group is a great way to get to know more about the Bible, the church, and experience our small group format. Starting point lasts 6-9 weeks.

After the intro group, you are free to sign up for a regularly meeting group before the next 10-week session begins.

The main topic of study during the groups is the sermon from the previous Sunday service. We believe this is one of the strengths of our program. This allows you to dig deeper into the teaching from Sundays.

Additionally, you have the valuable experience of applying the message to life situations in the context of a small group of fellow believers.

Sunday morning services are centerpiece of our ministry. Because our groups supplement and support our Sunday services it is critically important to get plugged into a group!

Go here to our group locator app. You'll see a listing of all our of current growth groups that meet around the city. There are a number of groups that have space to welcome new people. You can search by location, or by a variety of group attributes to find the group perfect for you.

If none of the groups seem to be an option please contact us and let us know you are interested in getting in a growth group. We'll be in contact with you shortly to get you plugged in.

Serving groups are teams of people that serve the church and community using their gifts, talents, and passions. We would love for everyone to be a part of a serving group. We have a number of groups available to join including things like, greeting, ushering, photography, multi-media, landscaping, and many others.

What are Meet-Ups?

Do you call Soteria home, but haven’t been able to find new friends? (We get it, it’s hard). Meet-ups bring people together to create meaningful friendships around the things they love. Whether it’s hiking, reading, painting, or eating tacos—anyone can host or join a meet-up centered on something they love doing.

Want to Host a Meet-Up?

Anyone can host a meet-up.

Hosting a meet-up is simple, easy, and one of the best ways to be the church by making friends. You can host one by yourself, with a friend, or even as a group. Simply fill out the form below with the details of your meet-up and it will be listed for others to join.

Meet-ups are meant to provide spaces for people to make friends, and aren't a venue for advertisement or sales. Be open about your intent in the questions that follow. If it is to make money or to network for the purpose of making money, meet-ups aren't the right place for your event.
