Prepare Him Room: Advent Resources for 2024
By Zach Dietrich
Advent is historically a season for us to prepare our souls as we consider the first and second coming of Jesus. How do you prepare? Books often help me slow down and reflect, and there are lots of good Advent books. Here are Advent books available in our bookstore.
Advent Coloring Book
By Josh Byers
Soteria’s very own Josh Byers has been producing delightful Advent resources for years. This year, he has a beautifully illustrated coloring book that teaches the gospel themes of holiness, sin, salvation, and faith. Weekly coloring sheets are available for free at our Welcome Desk. You can buy the coloring book and other great resources from Visual Theology.
Jotham’s Journey
By Arnold Ytreeide
When parents ask me for Advent resources, I always ask, “Have you read Jotham’s Journey yet?” Years ago, my friends Sherry and Troy recommended this series. We’ve read most of the series at least twice in the last decade. Jotham’s Journey (or one of the other three Advent stories) are action-packed stories that follow the road to Bethlehem. Note: they do contain violence, so the publisher recommends the series for eight-year-olds and above.
O Come, O Come Emmanuel
By Jonathan Gibson
O Come, O Come Emmanuel is a daily worship guide to lead you through Advent. Gibson compiled reflections from great Christian minds, prayers, catechisms, and even creeds. When I first began using Gibson’s books as part of my devotional life, I didn’t know what to make of it. Recite a creed? Read a prayer? I eventually came to appreciate and even look forward to the gospel rhythm of historic worship.
Come Let Us Adore Him
By Paul David Tripp
Our bookstore has 50 free copies of this devotional, courtesy of the publisher. While I haven’t read it yet, I have no doubt it’s full of gospel riches.
While you’re in our bookstore, check out many of the other great gift options this year to help your families grow closer to God.
