WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?
We believe that the church is supposed to be diverse in many areas including the way people dress. So you'll see people in suits and you'll see people in shorts. Come as you are and wear what you would like.
DO I NEED A BIBLE? WHAT TRANSLATION DO YOU USE?
Here at Soteria Des Moines, we teach from the Bible, but you do not need to bring a Bible to attend. We typically teach from the English Standard Version (ESV). If you don't have a Bible, please take one that is near your seat. It is yours to keep.
WHAT'S AVAILABLE FOR MY KIDS?
Our Soteria Kids program serves every age up through high-school, Please check below to see what classes are offered during our services. If you are dropping your children off before the service, give yourself a few extra minutes to check them in properly using our secure check-in system.
We take your kids' safety very seriously by doing full background checks on every adult serving with Soteria Kids. After you check in your kids at our kiosk, one of our trained volunteers will help you and your kids get to the right room.
WHAT IS YOUR MUSIC LIKE?
Our music is a blend of gospel theology with singable melodies and a modern sound.
Music is an amazing and powerful gift from our Creator. Just think about it. When a familiar song pops on the radio or streams from your mobile device, you know what song it is within just a few notes.
Throughout the ages, humanity has understood the power of music, and Christians are no exception. In fact, Christianity has been using this truth to proclaim the gospel since the Resurrection!
At Soteria Des Moines, we want to use this truth to our advantage. We think you are going to love it—we know that we do!
WHAT ABOUT GIVING OR OFFERINGS?
Here at Soteria we don't want anything to be an obstacle from you attending or hearing about what Jesus has done so we discourage our new guests from giving any money. We have members and regular attenders who give on a regular basis.
If you would like to worship through giving, you can learn more about the different ways you can do so here.
WHAT DO YOU BELIEVE ABOUT...?
We've published the major items we believe and hold to here. For anything else, please contact us. We are more than happy to answer any questions you may have.
WHO ARE YOU AFFILIATED WITH?
We maintain a close association with many local churches with whom we share a deep affinity in the gospel of Jesus Christ. These churches include:
We also find significant affinity and fellowship with many ministries including:
The GARBC is an association of like-minded churches with whom we fellowship. When doctrinally sound, like-minded churches partner, they can make great strides in global evangelism. The GARBC provides churches with services and the ministry network they need to pursue the Great Commission.
The Gospel Coalition is a group of pastors and churches that exist to promote gospel-centered ministry and biblically-faithful resources for the church. Soteria Des Moines shares the doctrinal convictions and theological vision for ministry as outlined in their Foundation Documents.
Desiring God Ministries has influenced Soteria Des Moines primarily through the writing and preaching of Pastor John Piper. Though we are not in formal affiliation with Desiring God, we share John Piper’s convictions about the Bible’s teaching on God’s sovereignty, salvation, mission, suffering, and the way one should live the Christian life.
9Marks Ministries, founded by Pastor Mark Dever, pastor of Capitol Hill Baptist Church in Washington, DC, has been formative in our understanding of how a church is to be governed.
We probably haven't answered everything, so if you have any other questions at all, please feel free to contact us.
